fresh year, fresh skin

Hello, blogfriends! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!

Like I said in my previous entry, Santa David really outdid himself this year. From gathering the essentials to spoiling me with goodies, I was overwhelmend with gifts. Especially since, I really wasn’t in the holiday spirit this year. The “busy”-ness of work and school really got to me and I just didn’t have enough time to get the holiday cheer in me!

Enough of the scrooge grumpiness! Here’s one of my favorite gifts from the hubby:

I got the Clairsonic facial and body cleansing system! I’ve only used it for the past three days and I can already tell the difference in the texture of my skin. Just FYI – I have horrible skin. After puberty hit, I was always prone to mild acne and breakouts. It’s died down in my twenties and definitely manageable now, but the scars from pimples past are definitely there and I am a daily makeup-wearer. *Le Sigh* What it would be to be a girl who could look faboush with just mascara and chapstick?! LOL.

It works great with my normal facewash and leaves my face refreshed and clean! I mean, it may be a mental thing I’ve created for myself, but I actually feel my pores being cleansed! :) I swear!

I’ve had a couple of pimples surface in the last 24 hours from using it as it brings out the trapped dirt and oil, but I’m hoping that once my face gets used to the system, that it will only provide benefits with my skincare.

For those of you who want an affordable, comparable option, Oil of Olay – ProX has a cleansing system that seems to be pretty reputable, too!

Most drugstores like CVS, Rite-Aid, and Walgreen’s sell them for $49.99-$59.99. You can even find it on Amazon.com for less than $40!

If you’re looking for a new skin-cleansing/maintenance system, go give it a try! I highly recommend it!

Fighting the Baby Bug…

I know, I sound crazy.

I’ve been overwhelmed with work, law school, and helping Mr.DJW with his classes (I’m the nerd in the family). And yet in the craziness of what is my life – the past few weeks I’ve been fighting the baby bug.

Now you see – Mr.DJW and I don’t plan on TTC (trying to conceive) for another two years, minimum. We figured that in about 2.5 years I’ll have graduated from law school and hopefully have moved to the legal department at my current company or have found a job at a law firm (God-willing). We would then TTC in hopes that it would allow me to work for at least a good year before having to take maternity leave.  Plus it would give us some time to grow our nest egg and make future monetary arrangements for our future kids (God-willing). It’s a sound plan and we are going to try our best to stick to it, although we realize that sometimes we don’t have full control over what happens in life.

Anyway, a few weeks ago, one of my co-workers had his first baby boy! He is adorable in every form and ever since I saw a picture of his newborn face, I’ve been bit by the baby bug. You know – the one where you see random pics of old friends on facebook with their baby bellies (ugh, no I’m not a facebook stalker… **blush**), reality tv shows about couples going through IVF, and OMG, don’t even get me started on all of the little booties and outfits that are on display at every retail store in the world during the holiday season.

Okay, so thankfully, Mr.DJW does not currently have the baby bug. We’ve lucked out that when one of us has been hit, the other is completely rational and aware our “plan.” Like this past summer – when he’d longingly stare at the dads coaching their sons’ soccer teams at the neighborhood park; I nipped that thought of having kids right after marriage right in the butt! There was NO way that I would be pregnant during the last two years of law school. NO WAY JOSE!

So the other night, we had the same talk, where Mr.DJW talked me out of my baby bug. I’m back to earth and realize that having children right now isn’t practically feasible, nor are either of us ready. I think there are a few more travel bugs we need to get out of our system, along with the selflessness we need to grow before TTC.

Regardless, at the height of my baby bug, I was bored at work and strolled over to The Nest and created a “What will your baby look like” photo of our potentional baby.

I usually don’t like how “fake” these photos turn out, but this one wasn’t too bad… God-willing, I hope that Mr.DJW and I will be able to have three healthy, happy children someday in the future. :)

Mr. DJW’s 20 questions

So back in August of 2010, my girls took me out to Vegas for the most amazing bachelorette weekend of all time. Needless to say it was full of fun shenanigans, but, I wanted to share with you one in particular, that made me adore my then, soon-to-be husband 1000000000x more than I already did at the time. :)

The game’s purpose was for each of the girls to answer with what they thought would be Mr.DJW’s response, I would go last, and then we’d see who came the closest. Not to toot my own horn, but I think I got 90% right; most of them, verbatim, to what Mr.DJW had responded.

Bolded = Questions. Italics = Mr.DJW’s Answers. Blue = My current thoughts.

When you first met Mrs.JYW, what is the one thing that first caught your attention?

Her bouncy scamper across the office and her beautiful jet black hair.

[He was in management, I was in training. He was in one office, I was across the hall in another. I pulled that move on purpose to hook him in! LOL. As far as my hair -- it's not black and it's to my shoulder (YAY PWC!) -- Mr.DJW likes it, but he's def a bigger fan of the long hair. (Oh Men.)]

What was your first date?

Applebees and Mitesh was there

[I would never call that our first date, that was the first time I went out to hang out, because I wanted to meet Mitesh - "the cool guy in the office."]

Which male celebrity is Mrs.JYW most attracted to?

Channing Tatum

[I do think Channing is yummy, but I've got a mini crush on Shemar Moore these days, so I think Mr.DJW would change his answer if he was asked today.]

Which male celebrity do you think you resemble the most?

See what the girls think, I don’t know.  Mrs.JYW thinks I look like Channing.
[I do not think that Mr.DJW looks like Channing. More Hugh Jackman.]

Where was your first kiss?

In my apartment after applebees!

[I'm not the romantic type, clearly...]

When did you first know that you wanted to marry Mrs.JYW?

Unfortunately it was after a big fight we had :( I knew I could never be without her, even at our worst.

[For those of you that don't know Mr.DJW, this might sound unromantic, but I like his honesty and his simplicity in saying that we couldn't live without each other, even at our worst fight, and all we wanted was to be away from each other, it never happened.]

When does Mrs.JYW look the most beautiful?

Watching her getting ready before we go out.

Where is the craziest place you’ve ever “made whoopie?”

In my parents garage when it was pouring out after a night at the bar.  We couldn’t go inside cause we would have woken up my parents, so we went to the garage.

[No comment. Blushing.]

What is the one thing you wouldn’t share with Mrs.JYW?

???

If you had to spend a year on a deserted island, what is the one thing you would take with you – besides Mrs.JYW?

Bailey and Buddy

If Mrs.JYW was stranded on an island, what is the one thing she
could not live without – besides you?

Facebook

Which pair of Mrs.JYW’s underwear is your favorite?

The ones that I’ve bought her and she never wears.

[I literally answered this verbatim, "the ones that he buys me and I never wear..."]

What one item of clothing does Mrs.JYW wear that you absolutely cannot stand?

She has this stupid pair of sweatpants that is cut into shorts at the knee and she also has one pair of capris.

What is one thing that Mrs.JYW wishes you would do more?

Make Dinner

What is one thing that Mrs.JYW wishes you would do less?

Pick my nose LOL

If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would buy?

A trip to Tahiti

the other side.

YES! I’m here!

I’ve survived all three finals and have the luxury of two weeks off from classes!

I surprisingly fared better than expected and will enjoy this time away from school quite thoroughly.

Mondays are usually hard for me, but today started off gloriously. I am still waning off the highs of being completely free of exams. But, I was so excited to use these new travel mugs that Mr.DJW and I purchased last night at Meijer’s:

(Source)

Contigo travel mugs are made with revolutionary patented AUTOSEAL® technology that automatically seals between sips, forever changing the on-the-go beverage drinking experience. The products – thermal travel mugs, water bottles and kids cups – are 100% leak-proof and spill-proof with superior insulation properties that keep beverages hot or cold longer.

^^ That’s the lil’ blurb of info from their website. But the mug really is amazing! As an avid-coffee drinking family, Mr.DJW and I have been through our share of coffee/travel mugs. I found out through my weekend of cramming with my law school bestie, Katie, that these travel mugs are an absolute must-buy for commuters and coffee drinkers alike! They really are completely spill proof and the temperature control is great too! Both of my coffee holders were full of other bottles this morning, and I just threw my Contigo travel mug on the passenger seat. No leaks, no spills, and still hot when I got to work 35 minutes later!

Anyway, after my love affair with my new coffee/travel mug, I came into this lil’ surprise sitting at my desk:

I received a cute Christmas card and a $50 giftcard to Olive Garden from my team lead, Mandy, last week before I took off for finals. I didn’t expect anything else, especially when I hadn’t expected the first gift either!

Lo and behold, our director got everyone on our team a different and tailored gift!

Mine — pictured above, is a 6 pack set of the Nutcracker Suite ornaments from Crate & Barrel, for our first newlywed Christmas!

Now it is my lunch break and I will be going to Wal-Mart for some last minute Christmas gifts for Mr.DJW.

But, fear not, this week will be slooooow at work, so I’ve got more than enough time to blog my little heart away!

– How is your Monday before Christmas going? Don’t the little things in life make a BIG impact on your happiness?
