BabyBoyDubs Bump Update: Week 24

How far along?: 24 weeks 2 days

Total weight gain/loss: holding steady at 20 lbs. from week 23. Hope to keep this up for the next few weeks.

The Bump: Not much change from last week. Slowly still rounding out, still a low carrier.

What I’m excited about/looking forward to: sending out baby shower invites for my small family/friends shower in September. (MIL is throwing a huge one for us in three weeks up north and I’m more anxious than excited about that one. :T). And decorating the nursery! :) I was able to get a GREAT deal on some Dwell Studio crib bedding and a rug last week. So all I need to get is some blackout and decorative curtains and wall hangings/mirror/decor!

Maternity Clothes: I almost always wear maternity bottoms: skirts, dresses, capris, shorts, or leggings. Tops-wise, I haven’t really purchased too many maternity tops besides tanks and tees, so I make it work with those and blousy, big nonmaternity tops.

Symptoms: Thankfully my weekly migraines have subsided. I’m still dealing with heartburn and Tums really isn’t helping me at all. :( I’m starting to feel the “pregnant woman” overheating, swelling, and overall tightness in my belly area starting to make me feel uncomfortable.

Belly Button in or out? (Stretch Marks?): Belly button in, no stretch marks, and rings are still on (barely).

Food Cravings/Aversions: I’m the hungriest for breakfast foods. I could probably spend two hours eating breakfast snacks and foods. I still don’t really like chicken or eggs, but don’t get nauseous like I did during the first trimester. Overall, I think I’m doing a good job eating well-balanced meals. I’ve been eating a lot of fruit. And popsicles. LOL. Gestational diabetes screening is in 3 weeks, so I need to monitor my sugar intake, etc.

Milestones: Viability! 24 weeks! 6 months! OMG! A month left to go before 3rd trimester!

P.S. Here’s the hairdo update from Friday’s post: (ended up with getting a TON of hair thinned out and highlighted, shorter layers, but kept the length!)

Sunday Social

Linking up with Neely & Ashley this week for their weekly Sunday link-up:

This week’s questions:

1. What is your dream job?

Now that I’ve been working full-time for 6+ years, I think I’ve let the corporate world suck the life of any “dream job” that I could have or want for my life. Honestly, my dream job would be able to not have to work for a paycheck and spend my time raising my children, tutoring  kids, volunteering at the hospital; and spending my days filled with bikram yoga, art classes, and other fun “hobbies” I could make time for and indulge in. But, for an actual, real answer — I think I’ll be happy being a college professor one day. :)

2. If you had just won the lottery and didn’t need to work for money, what would you do with your time?

I kind of answered this question in my response #1. spend my time raising my children, tutoring  kids, volunteering at the hospital; and spending my days filled with bikram yoga, art classes, and other fun “hobbies”

(I kid, I kid — I would NOT want to be a “Stepford Wife,” but you get my point.)

AND TRAVELING. I’d travel the WORLD with Mr.Dubs and our kid(s).

(Um, hell no, I would not let my daughter wear that top.)

3. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Ever since I saw my friend’s dad speak about his job at the career fair in 8th grade; I wanted to be an attorney. Hell – I even had a year stint of law school (AT NIGHT!). I realized that it wasn’t the path for me and now I have a huge student loan debt to show for it! WOOT WOOT! (Note: Sarcasm). Aside from the obvious $$, I don’t regret going; I made new friends, invaluable lessons and honestly if I hadn’t “tried it,” I would’ve always wondered about my potential career.

4. What piece career advice would you give to someone just starting out in your field?

Hardwork pays off. Professionalism pays off. Watch out and have your back; no one else has it for you. Work hard and work smart! YOU have the control of your career path.

5. Biggest Pet Peeves either in life or in blogging or at work

The only thing that currently comes to mind is coworker(s) who complain about work, when they have the easiest workload; and then continue to waste time at work talking about non-work things. I’m glad you’re free to talk about life, but I’m not – so please let me be productive. THANK YOU.

6. Biggest Fears

Labor & Delivery. I want to go natural, if possible, though I’m not 100% against epidural, etc. as I know unplanned things happen during labor. However, I just don’t want to feel forced or coerced into a medicated labor and delivery — when I could potentially deliver naturally.  Mr.Dubs and I decided that with our next pregnancy in the future, we will try to see a mid-wife to see if we like that over seeing an OBGYN. (No preference to either at this point.)

Weekend Plans

Happy Friday from JY & BabyBoyDubs!

Thank goodness for casual dress on Fridays. I am comfy in my maternity tshirt, nonmaternity jeans (rubber bandin’ it), and new nike running shoes! :)

This weekend, we will be at the 24 week mark! Viability! WOOT WOOT! :) Which also means, if we’re lucky, we have 16 more weeks to prepare, finish the nursery, stock up on all things baby, and spend the last of “just us two” time as best as we can together. EEEEEEEK!

With baby showers, weddings, birthdays, etc. — our August and September weekends are pretty packed full! So this weekend, we’re going to take the time to spend some much needed QT with one another! :)

Friday Night

I’m so geeked because tonight is THE OPENING CEREMONIES for the OLYMPICS 2012!!!!!! WOOT WOOT!

Mr.Dubs is working late, so I’ll be picking up some Thai take-out for us to enjoy while enjoying the show tonight! Mr.Dubs doesn’t have high hopes, since we were blown away by the show at Beijing, but it’s still an exciting time! I can’t wait to spend the next month watching Olympics coverage! :)

Saturday Morning

I have a 9am appointment with the best hairstylist ever, Tony! My already horsetail-like hair is growing rapidly, definitely need a trim and thinning out. I’m also thinking of highlights for summer (even though it’s half over!)… I’m going to keep the length… and probably save the major CHOP for post-baby.

My hair through the last couple of years with Tony:

Saturday

I told Mr.Dubs that since I will be glammed up from the morning hair session, he’ll have to come up with some ideas as to our day! I want to be out and about so I can show off my hairdo~~~~ OH THE VANITY.

Saturday Night

No solid plans, but we’ll def be taking the furbabies for a stroll around the outdoor mall or nearby park. Then, mostly catch a movie after dinner at home!

Sunday

Church, then QT with my parents. MMMM KOREAN FOOD. SO EXCITED.

Nothing too exciting, and pretty normal as our weekends go; but Mr.Dubs worked the last few Saturdays, so it’ll be nice to have him home all weekend. <3

Any fun plans this weekend?

BabyBoyDubs Bump Update: Week 23

How far along?: 23 weeks 4 days

Total weight gain/loss: Boy was I way off again! Dr confirmed at my checkup this past Monday that I am up 20 pounds! EEEK! He wasn’t concerned, but I am definitely watching my home scale for the next four weeks to keep the weight under control. I want to make sure to gain the healthy 25 – 35 lbs recommended for my pre-pregnancy size. I hear extra weight gain can be harmful to the baby and me post-partum. I have about 16 weeks left now, so I’ll be happy with 10-15 lbs. from here on out ’til week 40.

The Bump: Getting bigger weekly, definitely still a low-carrier.

What I’m excited about/looking forward to: finishing off the nursery, counting down this next month to the 3rd trimester, and first baby shower up north with Mr.Dubs’ extended family next month!

Maternity Clothes: Dresses and maternity leggings/capris are my saving grace. I have a couple pairs of shorts too that are super comfy for at home days. Nothing new this week besides three pairs of pregnancy-friendly shoes:

Symptoms: The most noticeable symptom is my every growing belly and the aches/pains that comes from that growth. It’s really hard to find a comfortable position to fall asleep (even with a heavenly mattress) and I’m highly considering purchasing a body pillow/snoogle. Heartburn is something I’ve learned to live with, but that hasn’t subsided yet either.

Belly Button in or out? (Stretch Marks?): Belly button in, no stretch marks, and rings are still on (barely).

Food Cravings/Aversions: My appetite has plateaued this last week. My portions are back to pre-pregnancy and I’ve noticed that on my work from home days, I’m not as hungry nor do I snack as much as I do when I’m in the office. So, I’ve realized that my snacking at work is emphasized by the fact that it’s been fairly slow and I’m bored, so I eat. I don’t eat because I’m hungry. I’m trying to cut that bad habit out ASAP.

Milestones: Seeing baby boy kicks from the outside. I laid in bed staring at my bare belly for a good half hour total. I was in awe and am still in shock of our growing baby boy. <3
