BabyBoyDubs’ Nursery Revealed!

Mr.Dubs and I’ve lived in our house for just over 3 years now and this nursery is the first room we’ve made over from scratch! I should preface this post, by letting y’all know that I’m not the creative nor DIY type, nor do I have any idea on how to decorate my house beyond amazing pinterest inspiration boards and amazing renovation blogger friends. However, the task of transforming one of our guest rooms into our lil’ one’s nursery has been one of true accomplishment (especially for me!).

We chose this room as the previous owners used it as their son’s room and had left custom-built California Closets that I couldn’t pass up using for our baby boy! :) So, I apologize in advance, for all of photo-heavy posts this week– but, that’s the fun part, no?!

So just to refresh your minds… THIS is what we started with, THIS is what the room looked like after Mr.Dubs’ amazing paint job… and here’s the 99.9% finalized nursery!!!!!

Lazy Saturdays

We haven’t had one in a really long time. But, sometimes, those are the best days that we have together.

Earlier this week, my friend Cole over at Adventures in Love & Happiness featured Mr.DJW & my love story on her weekly segment: Real People in Love.

One of her questions was: What is the best day that you and Mr.DJW have had together?

And as many great days that we have experienced together, I can honestly say that the BEST days are our “Lazy Saturdays.”

We sleep in ’til noon, with drool dried onour faces, eye boogies stuck in the corners of our eyes, and our breaths stinking of whatever we managed to pig out on before passing out the night before. Heck, we’re married, we still think the other is HAWWWWWWWWT in our ugliest, most unflattering conditions. :) Ok, not really, but hey, we do love each other, and seeing each other at our worst is something that is not a conscious thought in either of our minds anymore. (The butterflies have flown away! :P )

I digress.

We love sleeping in and waking up at noon. We stay in bed for almost another hour just cuddling and chit chatting about random thoughts and stories. We play with our furbabies, who more than likely have crashed with us on our bed, and are barking away at us to take them outside.

You see – that’s the only reason we get out of bed on our “Lazy Saturdays.”

We only get up to take the dogs out and feed them and to get food for us. Elsewise, we spend the entire day in bed. From watching a marathon of Criminal Minds to Modern Family, we make it a point to not do our usual “task list(s)” of stuff that we tend to get done in the 2 days we have away from work.

It’s nice sometimes, in the midst of our crazy work/schedules, to be able to take a day to tune out the world and just enjoy time with each other.

Sure, we have our date nights and we do almost every errand together. But, it’s another to take a break from the world’s “busy”ness and to just talk and laugh together for an entire 12 hour period.

I can almost guarantee you that with bootcamp, exterior house painting, and the Goo Goo Dolls concert this weekend; we won’t be participating in our Lazy Saturday ritual this weekend.

But, I think we are definitely due for another one pretty darn soon.

Try it sometime, if you don’t already. You’ll ooze with relaxation and cheesy, giddy happiness.

Have a great rest of the weekend lovahs!

Summer Pics Day 4 Answer

image

So I know I’m a bit late, but here’s the answer to my last post! I have a bunch of DIY thrifting and home decor projects I’ve been undertaking the last few weeks, and I can’t wait to show you all pictures. :)

Day 4 pic is stacks of frames, breakfast tray, and wooden art frames for my DIY cloth headboard!

Stick around, I have a bunch of holiday/DIY/etc. posts lined up!

Flower Love

Just a quick post.

I’m not really a flower girl. But, recently, I’ve fallen in love with calla lilies (wedding flowers), hydrangea, and orchids.

Today’s a really slow day at work, so with my 40% off Michael’s coupons in tow, I will be searching for fake flowers to add to each of our bathrooms for “decor.”

I am taking on 1 room at a time throughout this summer, so that I can de-clutter and decorate each room of our house :D .

Here’s a few pics of what I’m looking for:

I’m starting from the easiest rooms that need minimal change then tackling on some of the bigger projects throughout this summer. I’ll try to post a picture of our current bathroom(s) and then take pics after I am done decorating in the next few weeks.

Be back soon with cruise re-caps!

–What are some of your DIY at-home projects? Any big reno plans for the summer?
